Classes and Workshops

Workshops and classes are held throughout the Washington, DC and Baltimore Metropolitan areas. They are conducted in working production company facilities, as well as on job sites, using state of the art professional equipment.

To provide real-world, hands on learning opportunities, students train on the exact gear they will be using in the field.


Beginner Stagehand Workshop

September 8-9, 2021 // Harrisburg, PA // $200

This TWO DAY hands-on workshop is designed to promote stagehand’s competence, confidence, and work habits. Stagehands will learn and practice a variety of techniques which will enhance their working knowledge and promote safety and efficiency on the job site (both for themselves, as well as the production companies).

Stagehands will have the opportunity to demonstrate their skills, attitude, and work ethic to be referred and gain access to more show calls from attending hiring managers.

Topics covered will include:

  • Soft Skills including: company values, customer service, job site etiquette, communication, teamwork, apparel, work ethic, expected tools, personal workplace hygiene, maintaining client safety and confidence level, cable management
  • Loading, lifting and pushing techniques, building truss
  • Basic power, Camlocks / feeder cable, socopex, L20, True One
  • The basics of audio systems: Hardware, cabling, flying, ground supported
  • Basic connectors including EtherCon, DMX, Stage Pin, PowerCon
  • The basics of lighting systems: lamps, hardware, safeties, flying, ground supported
